True! We could get some branches and some dried leaves and grass and make a fire.
For a moment it seemed all was not lost after all, and then there was that noise ... and a moment later rain. And everyone knew that if you didn't have a way to keep the wind and rain from it, a fire during a storm just wasn't going to happen. But he was the ever considerate soul and, even though it would make him chill much faster, he flipped open the wing nearest her and angled it just so, using it as an umbrella of sorts.
Or not ...
He was greatly disappointed for a moment, clearly visibly by his drooped ears, but he was quick to scan the area. He noticed a group of large rocks off to the far side of the partial clearing and, even thought they were near a tree and you weren't supposed to be near one in a storm, it looked like the warmest place to be in the immediate area.
Over there.
He lifted an arm and pointed toward the group of stones and then moved over in that direction. The space between the stones .... was a lot smaller then it looked from where they had been. Their entire walk over, or half run really, he kept his wing out to shield her from as much of the rain as he possibly could.

Ilana began thinking quickly. They needed to find shelter or they wouldn't last the night. The rain was freezing cold and she couldn't help but shiver visibly as her head whipped around this way and that trying to find a tree or something that they could safely get under. It was about that time that she felt the rain stop it's intencity...and she looked up to see the wing of Tavor sheltering her from the rain's onslaught. She blushed slightly, "You shouldn't do that...you'll get colder faster..." she said looking at him. She didn't want him to get sick...or die. That would truly be rotten luck.
Then he pointed to a cluster of rocks, and she nodded. She hadn't found anything to hide under herself...and well it seemed like their only option. She kept up with his quick pace, eager to get under the shelter of the rocks with him so that he would no longer have to risk his health. When they got there...the space was horribly small...she wasn't sure how they both would fit in.
"How do you suggest we squeeze in there?" she asked looking up at him.

He eyed the space and his ears went back a little, there really wasn't much space was there? Well, there was a way they could both fit in but .... he wasn't sure if she'd go for that, he wasn't sure if he could really go for that really. The thought brought the color back to his cheeks and tried to cover it up by taking another look around ... nothing but scrub brushes and trees really. So .... that was ... the best bet.
He twisted his tail in a somewhat uncomfortable manner before he looked back down at her. Well, at least .... they'd have rocks on three sides and he could use his wings to keep the rest of the water out ... right? Well .... it was better then freezing ... The hard part would be getting his idea out and not sounding like a total, well ... pervert.
I-if you don't mind being close to me ... we could both fit in. I could .... keep the rest of the rain out with my wings? I w-won't freeze that way either.
He kept his ears at an awkward angle as he waited for her response .... good or bad.

She watched his thought process, and slowly came to the same realization he was having. She blushed a deep crimson. Well, it couldn't be that bad...I mean, they were friends now right? Would it really be that weird to snuggle up with a friend in a life or death situation...she supposed not, even if they had never touched before...other then him wiping away that tear. Why was she so embarrassed about it? After all, it was either snuggle up or die of hypothermia. She'd survive snuggling, even if it would be....embarrassing.
"I don't mind..." she said shyly, her body still shivering slightly as she spoke. "Let's just get out of the rain before we catch our deaths." she sneezed promptly after finishing the sentence.
She looked at the space...and then herself and him. "I think you should go in first...I can make myself squeeze into whatever space is left, but you are much larger then me...and you need the most space..." she said trying to rationalize through her embarrassment.

He eyed the space a bit more before she sneezed ... and that's what made his decision final. He'd gotten used to being out in the rain back when he'd lived in the capitol the first time, but she obviously hadn't had the same resistance. A part of him was glad of that, it meant she'd always had a place to go when the rain drops fell, but it also meant she'd be quick to sicken if she didn't get out of the cold as well.
He folded his wings momentarily before stepping into the cranny between the rocks and turning, sitting down on his cape to stay off the mud and quickly adjusted himself to not only be comfortable, but to halfway unfurl his over sized wings and beckon her to follow. It wasn't an embarrassing thought at present, not when he was genuinely worried about the safety of his newest friend. He hoped she wasn't sick already ...

She quickly followed into his lap, eager to stay out of the rain, and stomaching the bit of nerves she was getting from sitting in a man's lap. He might be a friend...but she couldn't get past the fact that Tavor was most certainly a man that she had not known for very long. She settled her sopping wet body in the middle of his lap, situating herself so that she was completely under the rock as well, she would have to push her back up against his chest. She supposed though...that at the very least, all the close snuggling would keep them both warm through the storm. "I'm sorry I'm so cold right now...and wet...but hopefully we'll warm up soon enough and start drying off a little under this rock." there was a shiver in her voice and her body trembled lightly.
After a moment or two of getting used to being in the rat's lap she finally felt comfortible enough to lay her head down on him. However, the movement was not as calculated as she thought...and she accidently bumped her muzzle into his. Not quite a kiss, but it was close enough to make her cheeks flush red, "Oh...suits...I'm sorry...I thought your sholder was there..." she said her voice still shaking with the cold. Instead of trying to make for his sholder again she just lowered her head. She let out a small nervous chuckle.

It's alright .... if you were out in the rain, and completely dry ... that's when I'd wonder.
He chuckled lightly at his attempt at humor. Laughter was good for you, right, especially in somewhat ... awkward moments? He'd just run with that, and fold his wings forward to block out the rest of the rain. They were soaked already, so the rest would simply slide down the wet feathers and drip to the ground.... but it would help to keep their body heat inside the little space ... .even if it wasn't entirely sealed. Hopefully the storm wouldn't last long.
The only thing he hadn't figured out was where to keep his arms and well ... his hands. He'd heard that girls could be rather ... touchy about such things and he didn't want to come off looking like he was trying something when he was really just trying to get comfortable, but after a few shifts the only truly comfortable place to place them was, well, on her form.
He was just in the process of turning his muzzle to apologize when she was attempting to put her head on his shoulder and the result pulled a rather adorable, and entirely vermin, squeak from his throat and he turned a rather fierce shade of crimson as well, and his whiskers, still possessing little dewdrops of rain on them, moved forward. Oh .... suits ....
N-no .... n-not your fault.... it was .... m-mine.
And the worst part? He liked it .... but it made him feel worse.

"Yeah...that would be a bit bizarre wouldn't it?" she laughed a bit with him, trying to drown out her nerves by talking, though in her heart of hearts she knew that wouldn't lead anywhere good. How many times had she put her foot in her mouth today around Tavor? It could very quickly get herself into another awkward situation.
She wanted to faint a bit as he wrapped his arms around her. She knew that it was just because of limited space, but there was just...something strange about the sensation. She realized that she was enjoying being held up to the man, closer, and more intimate. She really wished she had fainted...then she could black out and stop being in such a embarrassing situation. Instead she shivered a little more violently, something that could at least be attributed to the cold. This was crazy! How did one touch make her feel so strange? She looked at him. He really......he really was handsome...maybe she had noticed it before...and just pushed it away so as not to deal with the embarrassment of such a thought.
Moving away from his mouth was instantanious. She felt like she was going crazy. Fainting from being touched, realizing for the first time how handsome he was, accidently sorta kissing him. Her mind was working quickly, and paniced. What was she going to do? "Oh...no...no...I don't think...think it's anyone's fau-fault. I mean...unless you moved your face to kiss me on purpose.....but...um....NO...I mean...we didn't kiss...it was an accident." she paniced a bit, her cheeks turning almost purple with embarrassment. There she went...putting her hoof in her mouth...yet again...after she just thought about not doing it. She pounded a hoof into her forhead once and sighed.

This whole situation was uncomfortable in an ... odd sort of way. Not really completely uncomfortable .... but at the same time.... no, he was not going to allow himself to start thinking any way except that it was an accident and that was that ... but he did have to swallow hard not to make another of those little squeaking noise.
I w-wouldn't, unless... .y-you wanted me to.
Oh suits, there he went putting his own foot in his mouth ... of course she didn't, he was nothing more then a disgusting half-lowlander. Anatolius had said it didn't matter but still, not many people were honestly ok with his heritage. He hadn't been for the longest time so .... why should anyone else? And why was she clunking herself on the head?
Please don't hurt yourself ... no harm done ...
And he nudged the area she'd bopped with her hoof with his cold little nose, she really didn't need to do things like that ...

She shook her head a bit, her body still shivering like she was a motor. "No...I mean...not no...I mean...." she stopped for a moment...already feeling like she was blundering into another foot in mouth situation, but not really seeing anyway around it now, "It's not that you aren't...um...handsome...or anything...oh suits..." she blushed horribly, "I'm sorry...I'm talking to much again....saying to many uncomfortible things...I'm so sorry. I just mean...well...you know...I'm nothing special..." she said, looking away from the rat for a second.
He stopped her from stomping her temple in from nerves, and she turned back to look at him, only to feel his wet rodent nose against her cold pelt. She went silent, not even her breath could be heard...she felt like fainting again, and realized...that she actually...wasn't breathing. She gasped a bit and turned away again. "I'm sorry..." she said softly, unable to find anything to say. Her body felt like it was panicing...but part of it was pleasent feeling...exhilerating, something she had never felt before. But why was she feeling this now? Surely the rat thought she was crazy...
