"Heh, we are closer to the Courts so I suppose that counts for something right?" Rosemary said with a smile. At on her way back she could stop for a visit. Maybe hang around with Thyme for a while and bug the snot out of Sage. They did always appreciate her random visits.
She was surprised about the bander. Of course it made quite a bit or sense. It did look rather fluffy and bred for all sorts of things. Most of the banders she had seen were of the lesser build, though not as weird as the Yarrow ones. Whatever, she had no intention of ever putting up with one of of those. Maybe one day she would get an Ace, but besides that...
When the little monster started coughing up the hairball Rosemary shudder. No bander for her. Ever. "It's a fine establishment. We won't have to worry about someone trying to sneak in while we're asleep either. And the owner is a terribly sweet sort. Might be able to get a discount if I flutter my eyelashes enough."

Tegan just hummed in agreement and smiled. Discount or not, all those things sounded like a luxury compared to the previous bit of their travels.
-----Time skip to just out side of the Glacier-----
The travel through Sorgaire had been pleasant enough. The people were quite kind, if not a touch nosy. They seemed all too eager to share their advice against the pair of ladies going into the Solandrian Glacier. As they traveled further north, however, the warning actually began to get through to Tegan as the urgency of the advice became more fervent and the attitudes from Solandrian traders reflecting the warnings. Tegan looked out the window of the little cabin they were staying at.
"One more mile that way and we've reached our geographical goal... though my true goals seem so much further than before. I've got an idea that I want to run by you... It'll postpone getting into the border, but it might make travel easier as far as the "not getting run out of towns and denied room and board" factor goes."

Rosemary had absolutely enjoyed the trip. The words of warning not so much. Most of the time the world was warning people not to go near her. She was a Tulgey after all, and Tulgey's were nothing to mess with. If she were a normal sort that would probably be the case.
If she were normal she wouldn't be fun.
Rosemary was curled up with her book, pawing through it as Tegan spoke. Her ears flipped upwards as she turned to look at her travel companion. "Ideas would be good. I would much rather not be thrown out... and the way everyone is talking it certainly sounds like it's going to happen." Though Tegan probably had a far less chance of such a thing if she were alone.
Maybe. Tulgey and Solandria shared the same views about strangers and were just as violent, possibly more when it came down to it.
Forge reminded Rosemary that she did have him. And as long as they weren't up against a pack of Spades he should be able to handle quite a bit on his own. It was a comfortable reassurance that made the wolf squirrel's tail curl.

Tegan, also, enjoyed the trip. She enjoyed the company far more than she cared to admit. She hadn't realized how much she'd been longing for genuine companionship before Rosemary had come along. Having someone to talk to was becoming something of a Godsend. Hell, even letting someone take control of their journey and lead them. Someone to depend on and need. It was comforting in a confusing and annoying way. (And, honestly, the sex wasn't that bad, but even for someone like Tegan this is a footnote to the real friendship that was potentially budding)
She left the window and hopped up onto the bed, cuddling next to Rosemary.
"I think we should turn back, for now. Find a way to make me look full Solandrian before we set foot in the border. The only one I know of is in the Capitol. He does some amazing things, but I don't know if it's worth backtracking that much for a fool-proof dye-job..."

Rosemary enjoyed company in general. But she had to admit she was enjoying Tegan a bit more than most people. By now she would have wandered off to do something else. But Tegan had just enough idiosyncrasies to make this fun. It was rare that Rosemary found someone fun since Xylia was busy with children and Rhi was.... gone. Of course she could go out and find someone random to screw or story tell with, but lasting companions were hard to find. There was Imre, but he could only stay in the Wood... and he knew that she would go insane in the Wood if she had to stay there.
A smile graced the canine's face when Tegan decided to join her. This was nice.
And then she blinked. Wait. They had come this fair and she wanted to go back to the city. "But... we're so close to adventure!" she stated with a slight whimper escaping her. "Do you think they're going to react that negatively to the fact that you're mixed? I mean I know plenty of pyscho Tulgey purists so I do understand...."

Tegan nipped Rosemary on the ear when she made her small whimper.
"None of that," she whispered. She put one foreleg over Rosemary's shoulders and rested her head on Rosemary's neck with her cheek pressed against the other woman. "Yes. I really do. My father told me stories that I didn't take seriously until I came this far. We've met people here, Solandrians, who I honestly believe would have given us more than just a rude snubbing had we not been in Sorgaire territory. I intend to make Solandria my home, if it's enough of what I expect. To me, it'll be worth not dealing with the problems xenophobia will bring. It'll be hard enough since it's obvious I'm not a Glacier native." She turned her head to lick the back of Rosemary's ear, "I know it's annoying, but I really think it'll be more convenient for me and safer for you for as long as you hope to travel with me."

Rosemary flinched slightly in surprise. What was she supposed to do against such a convincing argument? When it came down to it she knew xenophobia was a powerful enemy, and it was the only thing that prevented her from waltzing into a few territories all on her own. This being one of them.
"Fine, but can we at least peak over the boarder for a bit? I want to at least set foot in the Glacier after this much hard work before going all the way back to the city. I don't want to make this an entirely wasted effort, you know?" Rosemary's tail flopped a bit in a half wag. She would gave given the woman a pleading look if it she weren't in such a comfortable position. And it might be over the top to beg like that. For now she would just ask before resorting to the cute puppy dog expression that probably wouldn't work.

This closeness had an odd effect on Tegan, and she wasn't sure if she liked it. Lovers in the past she's discarded on a whim if their parting wasn't mutual. She questioned this growing dependency every time she felt herself getting comfortable around Rosemary. She forced herself to get up from her rather comfortable position draped around her companion.
"Hell, why not? I see nothing wrong with taking a peek over the edge. We can even run around a bit for shits and giggles before turning back. Do you wanna go now or later?" she sat and looked at the other woman waiting for an answer.

Rosemary grinned like a fiend. Cheerful. It was impossible for her not to be utterly cheerful. She sat up when Tegan removed herself, her tail wagging with a flop. "I want to go now. Let's have a little fun. I'm sure in the off hours we won't have any sort of trouble. Unless, you know, people stalk their borders. And even then they can't do it one hundred percent of the time."
The wolf mix hopped off the bed and grabbed her coat and other winter fixings. There were quite a few to speak of, and it took her a little while to get everything in order. Unfortunately she wasn't built for the cold like her companion, and she wasn't willing to risk all of her toes and other limbs. Her tail might be a bit difficult to protect properly, but she had quite a bit of winter gear with her.
"Let's go!"

Tegan watched for a bit, mused, as Rosemary had to put on a few layers of clothing before they departed. Once they were ready, she clicked her tongue to call Siku and they were off. The sky was quite blue, a beautiful bright contrast to the dark rocks of the mountain and white snow. It had snowed the night before, so the snow on the ground was fresh and fluffy, the powdery blanket interrupted by the footprints and trails left by others who'd passed through. Some trails led straight from once place to another, indicating the traveler took this fresh snow for granted. Others were more chaotic, traveling in messy circles and entire patches of snow packed down from wrestling matches.
They traveled on and the snow displayed less flaws on its surface. They passed the sign telling them they were no longer in Sorgaire territory and frolicked off the beaten path into the pristine white, blazing their own parallel trails of ruined snow cover for their amusement. Throwing away any notion of adulthood they played in the snow, shouting and laughing as they chased and wrestled each other.
Completely oblivious to the danger that was finding them.
