Rosemary shrugged. She understood that it was wrong to blame a group of people for something that one person did, but in this case she could really understand it. Josephine had been hurt, which said a lot on its own. "She was going to get married to him. He said that he was willing to accept the fact that she couldn't have children and... then he ran away with a pretty voluptuous cat. I mean, finding someone who accepted her was hard considering most rich Highland families are only concerned with producing an heir to the fortune."
The wolf-squirrel waved a paw dismissively. "I visit her sometimes, just out of family obligation. And, of course, to piss her the hell off. It's pretty fun minus the being smacked in the head with a cane. But I've always been curious to see what would happen if she met the Queen of Hearts. Maybe they would finally put her out of her misery. The woman has to be over a hundred, and she doesn't seem to be going anywhere."

"Huh," she said in a non-committal manner. She had a hard time keeping any interest involving stuffy Highlanders. Hearts in particular. If anything, she almost found it amusing, but at risk of offending Rose by displaying amusement at a family member's severe misfortune, she hid it with indifference. "That's rather unfortunate." It was an honest statement, Tegan almost wished she could care more.
"Some people defy nature by the power of pure spite," Tegan shrugged, amused. One of her eyebrows rose slightly indicating a slight mischievousness to her mood, "So, uh... Anything fun going to be left behind for you when spite gives in, or are you being left out for not being born fulfilling someone else's need for justification?"

Rosemary shrugged. "Considering my sister and I accidentally managed to acquire the greatest of family heirlooms that e'Devya family had... and considering I was the one who instigated this horror of horrors I might be cut out of the will."
Forge snorted inside of her head. You know the old woman does love you right?
The wolf refrained from rolling her eyes. Joe? Love her? Yeah. Deep deep down inside perhaps? "Though, she might just give something to all of the siblings. I imagine if I gave her a Highlander offspring to carry on the family name she'd give me quite a bit. As of now out of my own spite, if I ever have a wolf child that's a Club I'm naming her after my sweet and wonderful Aunt."
A wicked smile flashed on the wolf's face. "I imagine you're pretty bored of Highlanders, yeah?"

Tegan snorted.
"Well, at least you got a hold of something you were probably going to be screwed out of anyway. That's something," if not amusing. "Eh. I suppose the bright side is you won't be burdened with a bunch of extra stuff to travel around with, even if your traveling with it just brings it to whatever storage place you keep it in." Tegan only laughed at the next bit. Oh yes. She'd considered names for kids if she ever had them. If one was an ugly little mutated Bog thing, she had considered naming it Heilyn.
"Hmm, oh yes. There were quite a lot of upset ones at how there are no more Highlanders in power at the Court of Hearts save for Bernard. Suits, they are unbearable. Though I imagine they would be no better or worse if they actually were in power. Bernard was good, though. He didn't rub a lot in anyone's face. Kind of a downer most of the time, though."

Rosemary's tail twitched with her curiosity. She wanted to know a bit more about Tegan. She was an interesting person, even if she seemed to be a bit of a cold bitch. Some of the most interesting people were like that, she supposed. Maybe there was more to it? Maybe it was just an act? That was a little doubtful.
"Mmm. True," she said, "Forge has been quite the blessing. Without him I probably would have kicked the bucket several times. It's good to have a summon sword. I understand why Hearts like them so much." Though she would never understand why her ancestor had made them for someone other than Hearts. Was it some sort of joke? He had been a Heart, and supposedly he had had a summonable weapon and such.
"You would think they would get off their asses and do it themselves. You can challenge a Queen if you're brave enough. Then again the last few people in power were scary.... as is the current Queen."

"Sounds convenient. That's a good weapon." She stretched and looked up at the sky. She laughed out loud and rolled onto her back at Rosemary's next statement, "You'd fucking think, right? Hahaha! No, instead of actually changing what they don't like, they just bitch. Hell, there are titles in the court that aren't The Queen they could be working to fill up, but no! Heh. Well whatever," she rolled back onto her stomach, "That place isn't on my list of concerns any more, so to hell with it. Since they're not actually doing anything it doesn't matter. I can't hear their whining from out here." She got back on her feet and shook herself.
"You good? I'm feeling like I can start moving again. We should cover some more ground."

Forge took the compliment and clung onto it like a rabid raccoon clinging desperately to the last piece of a sandwich. If he focused on something positive maybe he would like Tegan more? No. Not bloody likely. Why was Rose hanging out with this woman anyway? She wasn't the most trust worthy or interesting....
The laugh made Rosemary focus on something beyond her weapon's tiny angst party that was occurring in her head. She really did adore him but when things didn't go his way he had the terribly tendency to whine. Rosemary gave a shrug. She supposed that the Highlands weren't anyone's problem besides the Highlanders and the poor people stuck in the Court of Hearts.
The wolf-squirrel glanced at Tegan. So she was finally ready to go? "I've been good. If you can manage, we can cover quite a bit before nightfall. Possibly make it to one of the nicer inns."

In all reality, while Tegan had meant the comment to be a compliment had Forge know her thoughts it would have been an insult, a patronizing pat on the head. Still, Tegan was oblivious to his thoughts on the matter and her own overbearing arrogance. She continued forth.
"Oh, nicer inns! I like the sound of that! Could it even be so high class that it -gasp- has fucking private bathrooms for the rooms? Dare I think such a thing?" she let Rosemary take the lead again and followed along side. She whistled to Siku who was harassing some woodland creature in the bush. The bander sneezed and followed, a freshly dead squirrel dangling from her mouth. As they walked the bander would stop to rip a bite from the carcass and swallow it then pick up her catch and run to catch up.

"Not only do they have private bathrooms, they serve you real food!" Rosemary said with mock brightness before falling into step. It was a bit of a walk that they had in front of them, but she was sure that Tegan could handle it.
The wolf squirrel eyed the bander as it started to play and eat the little critter. Well that was kind of adorable. Maybe there was something redeeming about the nasty little buggers. Of course that was assuming you got one that was well trained and didn't hate everything that breathed. Oh Tulgey had jaded her idea of banders. The wild ones here just seemed far nastier. Perhaps it was because they were fighting to keep their brains in their skulls with all the nasty things that ran around in her home.
"How is your bander going to deal with the cold?" she asked curiously.

"Real food?! Suits, are we staying at a Court or something?" Tegan snorted, "Siku will handle the cold pretty well. The only reason we're not stopping all the time is because the weather is comfortably cold for her at the moment. If you ever get a chance to pet her, her fur's pretty thick. She overheats quite a bit in the summer and late spring."
By the time they arrived at the inn Tegan was tired, but in no amount of pain. She was getting used to this traveling.
"Hey, not bad. I like that this one isn't being held up by questionable infrastructure," she commented casually. She would swear that the last one they stayed at was crooked. "Siku?" Tegan called. A few paces back Siku was busy retching up a hair ball from the squirrel she'd just consumed.
