Rai gave a harsh-sounding laugh as the mouse carefully climbed on. Ironically, the stallion's baldness would make this a great deal harder on the mouse; there was nothing to hold on to. "Don't worry, I'm not admitting this to anyone."
With that little quip, the equine cautiously got up. The lurching motion very nearly threw the mouse from his friend's back and Rai gave an easier sounding chuckle at that. "Alrighty, that won't work." He paused for a minute, thinking. Finally he said, "Wrap your cloak around my neck; that's the only way I can think of for you to hold on." That little idea didn't bode well for the rest of their walk. Still, at least Rai was sentient and could warn the mouse if there was trouble ahead of them on the trail.

Trying to keep his position on his friends back he almost fell when his friend suddenly shifted to his feet. Quickly he grabbed at his friends neck, trying to prevent himself from falling, hoping that he was not hurting him in the process.
At his friend’s request that he wrap his cloak around his neck, the mouse maneuvered himself so that he could do just that. Grabbing the two ends of the cloak to make sure he would stay on board during the journey, he made sure not to pull it too tight. This was awkward enough to begin with.
All set he resisted the urge to dig his heels in to tell his friend that he was ready, the image however was amusing. Keeping it that to himself, he said instead. “Alright, I am all ready here.” He wondered how long this leg of the journey would be.

Rai gave a nod of his head then pushed off at an easy walk. For now, he wanted to give Aderlass a chance to learn his gait, so that, hopefully, when he moved into faster or irregular strides, the mouse wouldn't fall off. He pushed in through the bushes lining the road to step onto the merest hint of a path. He could read it easily; after all, he and Elias were the ones to set up this particular path, expanded upon a deer trail through the area.
As the mouse kept his balance, the horse began to lengthen his stride until they were moving in a cautious jog. At this rate, it only took them another two hours of careful travel before they finally made it to a small clearing. Three cabins dotted the area and Rai slid his hindquarters down so Aderlass would slide right off in a rather practiced motion.
The stallion switched back to bipedal form and stretched all of his muscles as he waited for Aderlass to give his estimation.

He found that it was pretty easy to keep his balance, something he was actually quite proud and glad of. Because falling, of any kind especially this height just did not seem like a good idea in his condition. He was gladder still when, however, after what seemed like five hours, they arrived upon what appeared to be their destination.
Sliding from his friends back, he took a moment to stretch some as well. He was feeling tired and achy and was, once again, hungry. Oh yes, he could not wait for this trial to be over. Done he took in the sight as Whip shifted back to his bipedal form. There were three cabins within the small clearing. Turning to see Whip finishing up his stretches, he raised an eyebrow. “Someone else is joining us here?” he asked, if the horse had mentioned anyone before hand he had momentarily forgotten.

Elias was watching through the windows from the shadow of his cabin. What in the world. . ? Was the mouse RIDING Whip? If it were anyone but El's own Queen, he would say something about it. He still might say something once he got the feel of the mouse. Mouse with horns, he could now see. Sometimes Whip left out the most random yet important details when describing someone. He came out of his cabin, harness over his chest with his kukri ever-present by his side, but left his bow and quiver by the door. Survival common sense was far removed from shows of aggression in this sense. He bowed from the waist, saying, "Your Majesty Aderlass, I'm Elias." He stood up straight before continuing. "I'll be helping Whip out here, making sure you're comfortable and safe." He had a little knowledge of Cards far advanced in their terms, and knew that what would be appreciated even more than court niceties would be a nice chair to sit in. "I've got some refreshments ready, and a good chair for you." It might seem odd, this thoughtfulness, which was bred from concern and politics and formality. That, and he was a little rusty in his niceties due to his long time in solitude. He supposed he was as ruffled as he might get by the situation.

The stallion's ears flicked towards his longtime friend and he turned to inspect the canine as he approached them. In bipedal as well, Elias' 'taur form was no longer a surprise to the stallion, but it had been a little odd getting used to it. Rai was also rather surprised that El had thought to prepare so much for the very pregnant Queen of Clubs.
Still, it was nice that Rai didn't have to worry about it now. "You'll be in that cabin," the stallion said as he pointed towards the cabin on the far end. "I'll still be here for another two days before I return to the Courts for awhile." With that warning, the equine led the way to the aforementioned building.
Inside, the decorations and furniture were spatial, but it was still rather homey. Shinrai was pleased about these cabins even now.

As a male made his way from one of the cabins to where they stood he was shocked to discover that he had four legs, making six limbs in all. He had heard from Elyse that one of her friends had four legs in his bipedal but . . . he had never seen it. Careful to not let on his shock he kept his face and tone calm as he replied to the canine.
“It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Elias.” He was hoping that the would not have to keep all of the Courtly necessities and was more then pleased when the canine informed him that there was food and a comfy chair. No insult to his horse friend, but he was indeed looking forward to a softer seat.
So Whip would be leaving in a few days? He guessed that was not to be unexpected. He did not want to keep the Queen from his work with Serafino. Making his way over to the cabin Rai had motioned towards, he was grateful to see that it was simple but held all of the necessities. He was not about to complain especially when they were going out of their way to help him out.

"We keep things a little rough so that our clients really feel like they're roughing it, but the chairs and beds are as comfortable as we can make them so that those customers are rested enough to be satisfied," El explained as he led the way inside the cabin. As a friend, Aderlass would get the inside scoop on how they got their customers and kept them, rather than the carefully constructed wild life adventure that Elias and Shinrai crafted for them.
He mentioned that, adding, "We don't live in the most region, of course, but it's a little too dangerous for Cards who pay other Cards to show them 'the wild.'" He chuckled. "It's almost as hard to construct this illusion as it would be to save their sorry butts for real. And they still get hurt! And they want drawings made! And they're proud of it! Look at the scars! Idiots."

"Oh, don't give away all of our trade secrets," the stallion said lightly, idly thinking about trying to thump El on one of his many legs, but the canine was watching him with peripheral vision, and it was likely to be a bad idea. Not that the two hadn't been testing each other since Rai arrived out there a few days ago. Rai had narrowly missed a nice long gash along his bicep when he'd first gotten out there. A nice oinment had the line nearly gone even before Aderlass showed up.
"Now, unless our dear Queen of Clubs has anything specific to ask, it'd probably be best for him to get some rest." The stallion had skimmed some pregnanc books, an act that had given his aide, Samid, pause. But there was no betraying bump on the stallion, even after several months, and the ram seemed to have chalked it up to simple curiousity.
