The mouse gave a nod of his head at his friend’s words. It should not take him too much longer to heal enough for travel. That and he was in serious need of getting back to his Court. Besides from Anoushka and Ataxia there was no one else to help out in the Court. Not to mention besides his work in the Court it was likely that his lack of presence was noticed and could at any moment be taken advantage of.
~
Giving his cabin a glance over to make sure that he had everything that he needed before he made his trip back home he gave a nod. Making his way over to the small crib-like bed he stared down at his newest son.
He was still a little confused on his feelings for the child. After all part of it was that but at the same time this child was also his. While he was not about to kill the child – the idea could not even cross his mind – he was not about to abandon it now either. The plan they had set up for the child seemed like a much better one.
While he would try and come and visit when he could, they had arranged it so that his son would be sent to the Club Court so that he could see his father. Hopefully this plan would help his son to prepare himself for the future and everything and anything it would throw his way.

Rai came to the door of the cabin, stepping just inside the door to watch his friend for a moment. What he saw on the other Queen's face, however, was relieving to see. There'd been a few times Rai had been concerned that Aderlass had hated the child, but this moment proved that the man really did love his kid. Very good. The pair would definitely have a better relationship than Rai did with any of his children.
"We need to get on the road," the stallion said softly, not wanting to disturb the baby. "It's going to be a long trip."
They were still going to have to take it easy for Ader for awhile. The man was doing quite well, though, and seemed to be recovering swiftly despite the difficult birth.
An event, Rai determined, he did not want to ever repeat.

The mouse turned at his friends words. Giving a nod in acknowledgment he gave his son one more fond look before exiting the cabin.
His duties to the Clubs came first and unfortunately he had already left it alone long enough. It was only a matter of time before someone tried to come in when he was not around and that was something he was just not willing to let happen. He had placed too much blood and time on where he was now to just lose it.
As they headed out of the Marsh, him and Rai, he turned to his friend.
"Whip," He used the name he had first met the equine by on purpose, "I would just like to thank you for everything that you have done. If there is ever a time when you will need my help, I will be willing to do anything."

Rai turned from waving good-bye to Elias to look in surprise at Aderlass. He slung a jovial arm around his friend's shoulders-- though the action would not last long due to their severe height differences-- and grinned. "Wot are friends for, Aderlass? Don't worry. I'll make you pay with interest." He gave a laugh and bounced back upright, evidently well-pleased to be on the road and moving again.
The man interlaced his fingers and put them to the back of his head walking easily and-- for him-- slowly so that the shorter Card could keep up without trying. It was a lovely day for a jaunt down the road. Even if the jaunt was quite a bit of travel through a few regions to re-reach the Capital City.
"It's all going to work out," the stallion said thoughtfully. Somehow, it all would work out.

Elias was a little miffed at the concern. Of course it would work out. He was doing all the hard stuff. El didn’t have a lot of intelligence on the heavy hitters at Court, but he was fairly certain that none of them could burn someone to a crisp with a touch. Aderlass should easily be able to hold onto the throne for a good while.
He looked down at the bundle of joy. Or, the bundle at any rate. At least the kid had people to care for him and about him. He was funny looking enough that he’d need that to fall back on, El suspected. A Corvistowneian Morganberry Bull Mouse mix. He knew the story behind it, but the combination still made him chuckle. Not to Ader’s face, though, or Rai’s for that matter. El did possess some couth, after all. He steadfastly told himself that some was always more than none.

“Come on, kid. You don’t make it all the way to me, you don’t get the candy.”

Iggy tilted his head to the side as he took in the stranger before him. He recognized the green canine of sorts from the fact this stranger seemed to haunt his every waking hour, but he still did not understand how it came to be.
Wobbly he tried to pull himself from his sitting position onto all four paws. He was able to apply pressure to one of his feet before he keeled over to the right, landing with a plop.
Blinking in confusion at what had just happened to him, he sent a glare to the green being. Maybe he could convince the stranger to come over to him. That sounded like a better idea. Why go to something when the something could come to you.
Laying on his side he squinted at the green stranger, trying to compel the canine to head his way. It really was not that hard of a thing . . . well for him anyway.

Elias stared back at the kid for a bit. He might be standing a little too far away, Iggy was still fairly young. But blastit, the kids could always walk by the time he got them, how was HE supposed to know what age they should start walking at? He moved a little closer, watching the bull mouse eye him. “You trying to use some sort of mind trick on me, kid? That’s not our strong suit. Long workdays, heavy lifting, and some minerals is what we get to look forward to. Now, what I’m going to do here is set this candy here,” he said, placing the gum drop three feet from the kid. “Walk or crawl, whatever you want, it’s yours when you want to pick it up. I tell you, your daddy and Uncle Rai are going to owe me for this one. You didn’t doody a diaper, did you?” he asked, sniffing the air cautiously. The doody was his least favorite part of this job. Doody duty. . .he chuckled to himself. It wasn’t so much the smell as much as it was getting all of it out of the kid’s fur. That was part of why El was working so hard to get the kid to walk. The sooner he could walk, the sooner he could train himself to go out back and dig a hole like any civilized card.

The mouse-bull mix continued to stare at the strange Marsh-dweller in front of him. When the strange green-one finally made his way closer to him, a happy smile light up his face. He made odd cooing noises, his face flying from one expression to the next as he tried to understand what was going on around him.
At the strange green-one's comment, though he did not fully understand it, he made a weak attempt of clapping his front paws. He enjoyed the familiar tone. For a moment he raised up his arms, in what the 'Taur could take as a wanting to be picked up, before the mouse-bull became distracted.
When the green-one had placed the candy not far from him, he struggled for a bit to roll onto his side. Dragging his hindquarters behind him he managed a sort of army craw to where the candy now lay. Grabbing it up he placed to his mouth, giving another strange coo-like sound.

Elias laughed at the kid's efforts. He hadn't seen anything that cute in. . .he didn't even want to think about how long it had been, because then he'd start thinking about how old he was getting. Too old for this, he thought, except when the kid was being cute.
He reached down and snatched the babe into his arms, still chuckling. "Time for some chow, kiddo," he said, carrying the kid to his kitchen and setting him in the high chair he'd built earlier. He set about preparing the meal, making it nice and mashed for Iggy's little kiddy no tooth mouth. He stopped and shook himself. Had he just thought in baby talk? He groaned a little. "I don't know what the *&^ you're doing to me kid. I guess it's not all bad, as long as I don't get soft." He gave Iggy his bottle, seeing if the kid could hold it up on his own now.
