Xylia blinked slightly, her cheerful greeting fading into a look of soft surprise.
He knew her? By name? That was...unusual, even by her standards. She hesitated in the doorway, torn between stepping back and allowing her guest in and barring the way. For now, she stayed where she was and retouched her smile.
"Ah, yes. I'm Xylia, you're not mistaken...though, you do have me at a bit of a disadvantage. Who would you be and, if you don't mind my asking, who directed you to me?"
That discomforted her a little, knowing that someone knew where she lived, but this mouse didn't seem all too bad. In fact, he seemed quite polite and and honestly abashed by his lack of direction in this new place. Ah...and a mid-ranger by the looks of him? They were a good lot for the most part, if she'd heard right.
Making up her mind suddenly, Xylia stepped to the side and offered him a warm smile. She simply would be herself if she turned down a nice person in need of assistance.
"Well, if its a tour you're in need of, I suppose I can step out for a bit. We can walk and talk and get to know each other while I show you around." As trusting as she was, she wasn't going to invite him inside right away. First she wanted to know how he knew of her when she didn't think she'd made herself much of a 'profile' to take interest in

"My client let me know your name--though she described you a bit differently. I'm sorry but I can't tell you her name. However, My name is Ichigo. It's a pleasure to meet you," He said with a cordial smile. The mouse really hoped that he wasn't being creepy or anything. Manners were important to him, but he wasn't exactly sure how to react to such a situation.
"I'm quite sorry to bother you." The mouse gave a slight bow, "But... you don't happen to know good antique shops and weapon shops would you? I know it sounds like a strange." He knew that she was interested in these things, but he didn't want her to know that. She could probably guess by now who had sent him.
Then it hit him.
"Oh! I'm sorry, I was supposed to give this to you!" He hastily handed her the letter that he had been holding.

If Ichigo's rather cryptic knowledge of her had not been enough, the letter definitely was. There was only one person who had the interest, know-how, or care to intercept her mail. Closing her eyes, Xylia smiled a little and allowed the tension to drop from her posture. No, he wasn't a threat. She had only ever heard from Mephit once, it hadn't quite been a letter of apology but she knew that that was what it had been meant for. Xylia never replied, her sister never wrote again, and the distance between them went unchecked.
Xylia had decided it was better that way a long time ago.
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Ichigo." She bowed her head slightly in polite greeting and smiled warmly. "Thank you very much for bringing me the letter as well." Ichigo's choice in shops couldn't help but make Xylia wonder what he was doing with Mephit and why, for that matter, did he call her a client? Ah well, it wasn't really her place to prod about such things. Mephit obviously didn't want to out and say it was her after all, and so Xylia would not push. "In fact, I do know a few places that would be perfect for what you're looking for. Give me a moment to put this letter inside and we can head out."
With another polite bow of her head to excuse herself, Xylia slid inside the house to set the letter in her room and fetch her messenger bag. It had been a while since she'd browsed her favorite spots, it'd be nice to buy herself something. When she returned outside, Xylia locked the door and then turned to Ichigo with a bright smile.
"Alright then! Shall we go?"

Well, that was easier than Ichigo had expected. The mouse grinned as she returned. "Yes, I think that would be fantastic." He said as he took a skip step forward. She seemed like a nice girl, at least. It was a bit of a surprise that she was related to his client. Then again it took all sorts to make the world go round. If people who judged him by his father, they found themselves more than just surprised when they met him. The apple does fall far from the tree sometimes.
The walked quite away, Ichigo watched her navigate. He seemed quite out of place without a biped form. Having short strides it was sometimes difficult to catch up with people. At least she wasn't walking that fast. He looked down the various streets, eying the signs and labeled streets. "Is the weapons shop anywhere close?" he asked as they seemed to be walking slower.

Xylia took into great consideration that Ichigo's stature was a bit smaller than hers and made sure to keep her pace even with his own. She prided herself on being polite and friendly and would have most probably shifted back to her animal form if not for the fact that shopping with hooves was just so much of a bother. This way she could move about and browse more easily, but she would also be sure that she didn't make Ichigo feel alienated.
It simply wasn't her way.
"Yep!" She piped cheerfully, leaning over just a bit to see around a few of the people crowding the street. Finally she spotted the wooden sign a few buildings down that bore the characteristic symbol of a weapons shop. "This place is slightly more known than the others we'll hit and have newer, more popular, weapons... There's also a really nice antique shop a few blocks away and a little shop which sells a bit of a mixture of both. It's a bit out of the way so we'll visit that one last, usually I have the best luck there."
They were her usual 'hot spots' and she visited them once a month or so in hopes of finding what she wanted. Of course, being both frugal and unsure of what she wanted, Xylia rarely left with anything. One day though, she'd find the perfect pair of swords. Even if she had to sit down and make them herself. Hopefully that wouldn't be the case...because she was pretty sure she had no knack for that whatsoever.

Entering the show made Ichigo almost shudder at the gaudy weapons that hung on the wall. New was word that you could use for the shop. Showy was another more appropriate word that Ichigo almost said out loud the moment he stepped into the shop.
He browsed around some of the lower shelves designed for people in their animal forms. He raised an eyebrow at some of the weapons. Judging from the Heart motif that's who the shopkeeper catered to. Heaven forbid that someone else actually wanting to learn how to defend themselves without magic. "Is there anything in this shop... that's a light weight short sword. Most of this looks like heavy weapons. As great as swinging something around and chopping someone in half is... I don't find it at all practical."
He figured that he would need to go to one of the other shops to find something with decent balance that wasn't for show. When it came to weapons Ichigo was a picky.

Xylia was growing increasingly fond of this Ichigo. His ideal of weaponry matched hers almost exactly and, while she liked to check all the shops in hopes of finding something of value, she always found this one the most lacking of them all.
It was all built for just what he said: hacking people in two. The concept of such entertained Xylia just as much as it pleased Ichigo. There was no practicality to it and it simply was not her style. She made a face, crunching her nose a bit.
"There are, perhaps, a few daggers that I could point out, but no light weight short swords so far as I've seen." She tapped a hoof in thought and then shrugged her shoulders. "Nothing here really satisfies my tastes either. I've got a real specific idea of what I want." The doe ran a hand through her mane before rubbing her neck thoughtfully. "We can move on if you'd like, Ichigo?"
There were a good number of other shops that would prove to be similar. Lacking for the most part but increasingly better than this. However...
"You know, if your tastes match mine as much as they appear to, perhaps we can just skip the others and head to my favorite. The shop is smaller and the weapons aren't nearly so flashy but I think the ones they do have are far more practical."

"Let's go then," Ichigo said with a warm smile. He wasn't going to play around if she knew of a good weapons shop. She seemed to have rather wonderful tastes if she didn't like this shop very much. The Mid-Ranger could appreciate well made weapons more than he could appreciate prettily decorates ones any other day.
He briefly wondered what the balance was like with some of the gaudier weapons. He was sure they would be horrible off, but he was sure most Hearts could compensate with their magical ability. Then again, magic could only compensate for so much. Weird balances and checks. Not like magic made much sense sometimes.
He waited until Xylia led him in the proper direction. The streets were starting to thin out ever so slightly as they traveled to some place that was a little offset from the other stores. It was a weapon store, and the outside probably didn't do it justice.

From the look in Ichigo's eyes, he had the same feelings for this place as Xylia did. Too gaudy for her tastes, too much show and not enough purpose. At least, not enough purpose for those outside of the targeted marketing area. She was as picky as Ichigo was, in all honesty, and a well made weapon would always sit with her better than these overly showy creations.
They were 'art' in Xylia's opinion. They looked good, but in all honesty they reminded her more of things one would hang on their walls not carry into battle.
The walk to the shop was not long at all, especially not with the eager shortcuts Xylia took in order to get them there. It was, after all, a very nice place and she was eager to search through the weapons again. One day they would have exactly what she was looking for and she could finally start training in earnest. Until then she would keep browsing the shops time and time again and now would be no different.
She led Ichigo into a small shop, very forgettable from the outside but the innards of the buildings were more than enough to make up for it. Weapons here were of a lighter brand, and built more for use than for appearance. Some were aged and some were new and none even remotely resembled the gaudy battle adornments from the previous shop. "Better, yeah?"
The shopkeep nodded his hear to her, obviously familiar with the dark doe, and hurried into the back without another word. He'd gotten something in just recently that he knew would be of interest to her.
