It would take Xylia a few more moments of silent shock to get her head properly back onto her shoulders. Ichigo was talking and Rolland was looking as if she'd died and the swords were light as feathers in her hands. Swallowing heavily, she allowed them to return to where they had come from -wherever that was- and turned back to Ichigo while trembling.
What was he asking? Oh... Yes. A heart in another life?
A painful laugh wrenched it's way out of her. How could she explain? He was right, so right. Was she really so meant to have been a heart that the swords had chosen her despite suit? "T-Thank you, Roland. They are perfect, but I should be going now. I need, to think about all this." Roland dipped his head awkwardly and waved a little before Xylia wandered back out into the street.
Once Ichigo was at her side again, the doe heaved a terrible sigh. "About your question in there?" Xylia hadn't wanted to have Roland over hear this, she didn't want to become emotional in front of him either. "I was. Not in another life, but...I was a Heart before. Do you think that's why, the swords did that?"

"But..." Ichigo looked up at her with an expression somewhere between shock and utter disbelief. [color=lightsteelblue"That's impossible!"[/color] He wanted to flail, but he figured that was just a little to much emphasis to throw around.
"You can't just magically change your suit, and why were you go from a Heart to a Spade? What, did someone curse you or something?" He shooks his head. This was still entirely too impossible to be true. Then again, why would weapons do something like that? Only hearts could summon weapons. Unless there was some insane craftsmen running around making swords that were summonable.
Nuts. This was nuts. First day in the City and he had already seen the practically impossible. Wow. Spectacular. "But I imagine... it does have something to do with the fact that you were a Heart. I think, I don't really know... because this has never exactly happened to me."

Xylia flushed heavily beneath her dark fur, looking absolutely miserably for a moment. Why? She hadn't really meant to. By the Suits she didn't even know how it had happened, just that it had. Her slender form shook a little and she rubbed the back of her neck in uncertainty.
"I picked up some bracers, I figure they were enchanted or cursed or something... But they made me like this. My suit changed, all my colors changed and yet I still haven't figured out all their properties, really." The Corvistownien in her was angry, frustrated to death by the fact that she didn't know why her bracers had reacted the way they did. "I don't know either. Bloody..." She trailed all in frustration, leaving the curse unspoken. "I suppose... I should just be happy? I mean, weapons like these are 1 in a million, especially if you're not a Heart. I'd...always hoped, but..."
Oi! This was so distressing! To think she had finally gotten the shock of the change out of her system and had gone back to living her life as she had before only to be reminded like this.

Cursed items. Changing suits. Magical weapons that bond to their owners. This was like some horrible fantasy novel at the bottom of the bookshelf that no one would read. Bloody hell!
"I'm at a complete loss for words," Ichigo stated in monotone. He really did not know how to cope with any of this information. "I don't know if I should say congratulations on your find, or I'm really sorry for your loss or... what. I don't know. I just..."
He trailed off and stopped walking to look up at her. She said she was a Heart before. Did that mean she knew how to fight previous because of magic or did she actually learn. He raised an eyebrow at the very thought. Ichigo honestly didn't know what Hearts did as far as weapons. "Do you even know how to use those swords properly, Miss Xylia?"

Xylia blushed heavily, so glad that her fur was black that she couldn't even begin to express it. She, sadly, knew where his concern came from.
A Heart knew how to use a weapon instinctively, it was just the way of Hearts, but a Heart turned Spade? They were naturally at a loss when they picked up a weapon and it didn't fit in their hand like they used to. Xylia had spent a good deal of time in that agonizing situation.
Hard work had paid off though and Xylia was slowly teaching herself all the arts of sword fighting. One day she'd be as good as any heart, especially now that she even had a Heart's weapon. "Yeah, I do. At least, I know the techniques." The doe cast about, quietly searching for an area where she might be able to show Ichigo, but the street was busy and there were no clear places to slip away. "I've been practicing with a sword everyday since I gained my biped form, but I don't have any professional lessons or even proper experience."
One day she wanted to fight a true battle, but that was a long way away. For now it was all theory and imaginary targets.

No professional lessons? Well, he had been subjected to "professional lessons" his entire life, and knew all the theories needed to deal with swordplay even if he didn't have hands to properly use a sword. He could probably tell if she was any good if she decided to show him. Of course there was no where to show him in the busy streets.
"Well... I suppose if you show me sometime I can give you a few pointers. Since self teaching is wonderful and all, but you need more than theory to work off of," Ichigo said as he padded along besides her. Could this day get any weirder? No really, it couldn't.
"Oh, I needed to ask you one more thing before we part ways. Do you know any good inns to stay at? There's one I've been thinking about but I'm not entirely sure I want to stay there. The person who recommended them to me was less than reputable," he shrugged.

The mere mention of Ichigo giving her pointers caused the doe to perk up, her eyes widening with surprise and excitement. Xylia was very much a Heart even if her suit outwardly displayed that she was a Spade and it showed in her devotion to weaponry.
"O! Really? That would be..." She shook her head, at a loss of words in her excitement. "That'd be just wonderful. Theory alone really...doesn't do the art justice."
As he went on, Xylia calmed her excitement to a manageable level and focused on what he was asking. A place to stay? She knew a few decent inns, but...
"Hmmm... I do know a few good inns, however... If you'd prefer, you would be welcome to stay with me for the time being?" She flashed a large smile at him. "I don't have the biggest house in the City, but there's an available guest room and I'm a decent cook. If you can give me pointers on my technique, then you can stay as long as you'd like."
There was an itching at the back of her mind, urging her to rush out and find Seki now that she had the weapons proper for going where she needed to go but until she was confident in her sword fighting she couldn't risk it yet.
Meeting Ichigo had been one of the best things that had happened to her since her incident with the Bracers.

Oh. Ichigo didn't expect that. Should he accept the offer or go to an inn? It would be rather rude to dismiss such kindness, and he did still have manners somewhere despite all of his shock. She probably did need pointers if she was planning to be a proper swordsmen, and she had been kind enough to show him around town. Well, it was just a matter of if teaching her was enough to pay back her kindness.
"Thank you, but I can't imagine teaching you a few things about swordplay is enough to let me stay at your house." He said looking up at her curiously. "I would like to do something else for you at least. I suppose when my job starts paying I could give you a bit of money back for your troubles."
He had a feeling that no matter what she was going to refuse his offer. Sigh. Being nice to any degree was complicated. He would honestly feel guilty if he only taught her a few things.

As they walked, Xylia notably weighed his responses. She wanted to deny his offer for money on the value that pointers really were enough for her but she knew, by her own manners, that she wouldn't have accepted such an offer without feeling guilty either.
Manners and Honor if anyone could understand the complicity of them, Xylia could.
"Maybe we can barter a bit? I'd hate to take your money...so maybe there's something you can help out with around the house?" She flashed a sweet smile in his direction and shrugged her shoulders. "We could split groceries...or cooking, for all that I can manage a decent meal...I really hate it." She giggled softly, hoping he'd take her offer. Really, it just felt wrong to take his money for a courtesy she was extending to him. "Between something like that and pointers, I'd be more than happy to have you stay. A helping hand from time to time and someone knowledgeable about sword fighting would be so much help to me."
Even the pointers would have made up for it just fine. After all he was saving her from having to hire someone just to teach her.
