Ichigo could live with that. "Cooking I can do," he smiled. "You'll have to put up with some of the dishes from my region until I manage to buy a cook book, unless you have some I can work with."
Cooking was one of the basic things Ichigo had learned at an early age. He honestly didn't want to starve to death when his father so kindly punished him, so he had ever reason to figure out how to cook even if it wasn't exactly his favorite thing in the world. He would whine about it though. It was better than most things.
Then he remembered something. She mentioned that she was a Corvistowneian. "What exactly is your Corvistowneian study, exactly? Do you have one rather? I'm not exactly sure how all of that works. Being holed up in my region and not paying attention to my studies kind of leaves gaps in my knowledge."

"I'm pretty lacking in the cookbook area. I can make a few things...but nothing spectacular." She laughed a little. She wouldn't add that few of her dishes were particularly good either. Oh well. "I wouldn't mind having Mid-Range dishes for a while, I've never had any before."
She beamed happily, content in having that settled, and continued down along the street. Maybe, if she got close enough to him, she could allow Ichigo to stay in town and watch her house while she was out...
His question brought her to a mental pause. She didn't exactly have a study like her mother or even her sister did, she just liked to putter about with the fascinating potions she could find.
"I do, somewhat. I'm fascinated in Chemicals, probably because my mom was highly devoted to that range of study... but I'm honestly more interested in weaponry than science." She really was a natural born heart. "Though, when I do putter around... I'm rather intrigued by truth serums or enhancement potions. Things like that. I'd like to make a few sometime, but mine are weak at best and...tend to blow up in my face."

Mid-Range dishes then. He could handle that. Then he would have to run out and grab a cook book wouldn't he? With a small mental shrug he listened to the doe speak of chemicals.
That really was an interesting thing to study or even putz around in. He could honestly say he would have blown up an entire building if he played with chemicals. "You have quite an interesting hobby then. I can't say I would ever risk with playing around with stuff like that. I would probably blow up a building or something."
Ichigo suddenly wondered how long he would be employed by Miss Mephit. She seemed to be on the fast track of life, and he had a feeling he would be out of a job soon. That was the problem with being a body guard for hire, if you didn't find someone steady enough you were out of a job and wandering once again.

Xylia smiled proudly, though sheepishness crawled into her expression every now and again. She wouldn't admit just how many times her experiments ended up causing some sort of trouble. From blowing herself up...to well, her current appearance.
Good job Xylia.
"With my mom being something of an 'icon' in Corvistowne, I feel...a little obligated to be somewhat good at her craft. She's an amazing teacher, so I mean...I've got the basics. It's applying it to my own interests, since genetics don't make me go all fluttery or anything."
When at last they reached the house, Xylia unlocked the door and pushed it open for Ichigo. She'd let him get comfortable inside and then they could discuss long-term plans and all that...and, hopefully, the possibility of him lingering about and helping with 'house-sitting' while she was gone.
"There's a spare bedroom in here that you can use... and the bathroom is the door at the end of the hall. The kitchen's to the left there...and...my room/lab thing, is this one here..." She shrugged slightly. "I don't really sleep much, so just knock anytime if you need anything. So... well, feel free to make yourself at home."

He was tempted to ask about her mother, but she didn't seem to want to discuss the subject. To each their own. He let the conversation drop until they returned to her house. It was terribly nice of her to let him stay.
"Thank you very much," Ichigo said cheerfully when she gave him the instructions. "You don't mind if I cook dinner tonight, do you? I imagine you have the proper supplies in your kitchen, and since you were nice enough to show me that fantastic weapon shop, I'm more than happy to fix dinner." And he had to get into the swing of things. It had been a while since he had cooked a decent meal for more than one person.
It was a challenge he was willing to take. He waited for the woman's response before he slipped into the spare bedroom. This was a nice little house. She must have had a good "hobby" then.
