Take the day off. That's what Rogers had said to him. Apparently Kelasia, his dad and Eilwyn were going to go out and do something. Without him. He wasn't particularly crushed over this. Zane just had absolutely nothing to do. The only thing he could think of was wandering the streets. No plots, no goals. Aimless. He felt like it was a bad idea. He generally like to plot things out in the course of a day. Finances and numbers came so easily to him. He was like his dad except he was a little less ambitious. That and he wanted to do something other than the bills every once and a while. The mix realm sparrow looked around the streets. The busy people were just wandering around as aimlessly as him. "An adventure. A date. Something." The sparrow continued to look around. Not a single person bothered to stop to say Hello. Not a single person ran into him. He looked at the building next to him. It was a simple cafe that his father had told him about. He looked at the tables absentmindedly still walking. Was it worth the time to stop?

He was relaxed, leaning back into the chair his legs crossed so that one ankle rested on his other knee. His eyes were closed, shaded by the hat he wore; he sat there soaking up the sunshine. One arm resting on the arm rest the other resting on the cane that sat next to his chair. On a day like this there was not much that could be beat. The tea that he had ordered sat there un-drunken, now cold. For a reason unknown he felt compelled to look around. Opening only one eye, he looked around to see what could have caused such a reaction from himself. His searching eye soon landed on the form or what appeared to be a bird, only the bird had non-bird-like wings. Arching both brows he eyed the creature, opening both eyes to small slit. Before he could quite tell what he was doing he found himself calling out, “You there, why do you not join me this fine morning.” He motioned towards the seat across from him.

Zane blinked at the sudden invitation. He eyed the interesting character that was hitting on him. Fascinating. This wasn't exactly the date he had wanted, but it certainly was in event. He looked at the card up and down. Ten of clubs from Morganberry. He had horns and... an interesting taste in accessories. The sparrow couldn't help but feel jealous. This stranger had his biped form.
"I'd be honored," Zane said with a smile. Hopefully he wouldn't look silly to the mouse, not everyone was used to an avian's smile. He graciously took a seat without asking if he should or not. The man had offered, he would simply follow. "Though I'm curious to know the name of my host for this fine evening. I'm Zane, sorry I didn't introduce myself sooner." The mix realm said with a small bow of his head. Formalities never hurt anyone.
Ez would have scolded him for being so uptight. On well. When you take an invitation from a complete and utter stranger without a word of question... that was taking a risk wasn't it? Somehow he doubted that someone as respectable as this mouse seemed to be would do anything in the middle of broad daylight.
It was something to do on his day off.

“The name is Aderlass. It is a pleasure to meet you, Zane.” . The mouse replied easily, nodding his head in greeting, pushing the hat back so that he could see the bird more easily. It really was a strange looking creature. He really admired the wings.
He eyed the creature that was now in front of him. Well this was a small pickle now was it not? He had suddenly called to the lad not even aware that he was doing it and now he was faced with a ‘now what?’ Might as well make the best of it he thought to himself.
Giving a friendly smile he waved towards the tea cup, “Please do not think I am trying to pick you up or anything strange like that. I would not dream of it, not to say you are not an unattractive young man. However, could I interest you in something? Tea, cake, wine perhaps?”

He was quick to defend himself. Which obviously meant the mouse was telling a half truth. He may not have been interested in Zane but he was probably interested in other men. Oh, that would go well wouldn't it?
"I doubted you would ever pick someone like me up. After all I'm not the most attractive passer-by, simply the friendlier looking one." The truth hurt sometimes. Not so much in this case, Zane thought. If Aderlass had been a girl? Well the story would have been different. Now was not the time to dwell on possibilities.
"Tea and cake usually go well together. Wine in the morning? I'm not all that sure that's the best thing to do on an empty stomach." Yes. Zane had forgotten to eat. He kept on doing that recently. How easily he could be caught up in something and just forget. He shook his head. He was curious. "What are you doing out today? Bored like me or waiting for something to happen?"

“Then cake and tea it shall be.” The mouse said with a soft smile. Waving towards a waiter to get her attention, he placed their order when she came near. “And as for your information, there is nothing wrong with drinking wine in the morning. Healthy for the heart, do you not know. On a empty stomach may be a different story, though.”
When the waiter had come back with their orders, two small cakes and two orders of hot tea, he paused in conversation.
“My plans for the day, hrms? You know, I honestly do not have a clue. I suppose at some point I should go about doing at least something on my long list of things to do. At the current moment, however, nothing sounds more tempting the just sitting here.”
He really hoped the boy did not think he was trying to pick him up. He had no interest in the matter. While he might not say ‘no’ to someone who offered some fun, he did have some rules about what he allowed. He did, however, find the birds wings truly mesmerizing.

Was he staring at his wings as he spoke? Did he honestly find them that distracting that he couldn't even try to hide his gaze? What on earth was the man thinking? No. Zane really didn't want to know what he was thinking. He would have to tell his brother about this one.
He watched as the cake and a cup were set in front of him. What a generous stranger indeed. Zane made a mental note of this kindness and filed it away. Kindness should always be repaid in kindness.
"I would have a laundry list if they didn't tell me to take the day off. I'm supposed to relax. However, I'm so very tired of reading all of my books and sitting inside I thought I would take a walk." He let out a slight annoyed sigh, "I just wish they let me have a day off when I actually needed it it. Then again, I can't complain when it comes to a shipping firm. The customer always comes first. What... would your profession be?"

After taking a few sips from his tea, trying not to grimace, tea really was for wusses he thought to himself, he answered the bird. “At the current moment I am just busy doing this and that. However, I have high hopes of opening up a jewelry store soon. I am in the current motion of trying to find a building to setup in.” Surprised at having informed him of more then he had planned on telling anyone he ducked his head for a moment. Trying to cover up the blemish he had done in not keeping his plans secret, not that he was trying to do anything secretive – he just did not want people to fully know his goal in case he happened to fail, he chuckled softly.
“You would not happen to know anything that would help me, would you?” He asked, interested to see if this might be the reason for the sudden interest.

Oooooh. Business. Business he could handle. "My brother would probably hug you after saying that. He absolutely loves jewelry, and actually has the best taste when ti comes to wooing with it. I'm sure he could at least help you with a marketing demographic."
No. He didn't sound like a complete geek. He wasn't obsessed with books and numbers at all. Well, he was. He just wasn't about to admit to a stranger that he was nothing more than a geek-nerd. "I know if you have trouble getting a place to rent out, one of the local companies would be willing to back you. Skilled craftsmen, particularly for things as fancy and high paying as jewelry, are eaten up by the already established shops. From what I've heard though, the commissions suck. You might be able to find the makers in some of the stores and seek them out." He nodded. Ez and his roommate enjoyed talking about how people were ripped off in Capital City. This very much helped when it came to random conversation.
The sparrow took a sip of his tea and blinked. It tasted like water. Badly flavored non-Lakeland water. Dad obviously didn't come here for tea. That or they had been given a bad batch or something.

Taking a sip of the tea he grimaced at the awful taste. Wot kind of people drink this stuff? he wondered to himself. Putting the cup back down he decided that he was going to just give up on it all together. Wine was indeed sounding more tempting no matter what the bird said.
“My, my, my. You know a lot of useful information on this it appears.” He was pretty impressed at what Zane had just told him. It seemed that his urge to call the youngster over was indeed for a reason.
“Seeking makers and workers is yet another thing that is on my list of things to do.” All this running about and having to do things almost made him want to give up on the idea. The fact that this had been an idea for a long while now was the only thing that really held him to the idea. Well that and his admiration for shiny objects.
