The flailing tree was still moving towards him, trying to attack him. However the rise and heat started it to smoke. In an instant the tree burst into flames, flailing branches and all.
It continued to flail passing Aderlass and crashing to the ground, on top of the previously fallen tree. In a brilliant display they both started to burn brightly. The flames licking all that was around it, including the building that wasn't all that far away. It didn't take long for the fire to catch, it wouldn't be at full strength for a while.
The two trees that were pinned by the roots continued to flail uselessly.
Theofilus wasn't sure what to do. He wasn't about to get off the bird without a plan in mind. The tree spell wouldn't last much longer, and the only thing he had left was his King ability, the nerve ability and the bird he was sitting on.
And a very underhanded trick. But that was a last resort wasn't it.
The pain was almost mind numbing. Focus was getting harder and harder for the bird. But he had to tell himself to keep going. That's the only way he could manage. The sparrow stared at his broken thumb, and cursed as he put his good hand on the fingers and in one quick motion snapped them back as hard as possible.
The sickening pop filled the air, Theofilus screamed in pain, tears welling up in his eyes. This better be worth it. He just needed Aderlass distracted long enough....

The mouse was barely able to notice the lovely destruction that was taking place as the fire started to spread down the street, taking out trees and spreading slowly from building to building. Huddled over his newly 'injured' left thumb he had barely gotten over the first wave as another wave slammed into him, this one much worse.
Falling to his knees he gasped in pain, tears streaking down his face as well. The sparrow had to be truly psycho in order to have caused such an injury to himself.
After the initial blow of pain slowly faded, though in no means went away, the mouse attempted to see how much damage was done to the thumb. Moving it he let out another gasp and curse as more pain shot through it. He was able to move it though.
Cuddling the hand to his waist, in attempts to not have such an event occur again, he glared up once again at where the sparrow flew on his makeshift mount. As tears leaked down his face he let out another yell, aiming it this time at the bird.
((Again)) Queen's Ability: He can emit a very sudden and impressive yell that one would never expect from a creature of his stature or species. The yell can be given off once per week, any more often and he risks extreme throat damage. It is reminiscent of the bellow of a much larger creature. This causes shock to the creature who hears it, freezing them in place for a full five seconds and obliterating their ability to hear at all for the next full hour.

Theofilus didn't hear the yell, but he felt the result. Five seconds was a very long time to fall. And to Theofilus' abject horror when the five seconds were over he found himself still falling. The bird let out a horrified shriek flapping frantically.
The bird fell into a dive, trying its hardest to pull up smoothly. It scrapped the the tips of the spikes but managed not to kill itself or it's rider. It started a wide circle upwards, passing the now building flames.
The time was almost up for the trees, but they continued their mad flailing. The exhaustion was slowly seeping its way into Theofilus's body. That wasn't his biggest concern though. It was the growing fire. He watched as the building started going up in flames.
He cursed the pain in his hand, looking at the wound he had made. His own worst enemy right? Well he'd add just a bit more pain to that. Cursing as the bird slowly made it's way up again he bit down as hard as possible on his partly broken hand. How badly could he piss off the mouse?

A chuckle was given half heartily when he saw that his yell had a lovely effect on his opponent. Sadly though, it was short lived. The bird had been able to capture its master, even if it was almost last minute. "If only he had not been captured" He sadly shook his head to himself. That would have been a lovely end for the #@&%.
Then suddenly there was more pain being pushed to the mouse. His left hand, now a bone throbbing ache of pain suddenly lashed out with more. The mouse cried out, ending in a snarl, from the sudden pain.
That #@&%ing #@$^*%&!
They guy had to be either at the end of his rope or taking a sweet pleasure out of this.
Oh he was going to pay. The mouse only needed for the sparrow to get in range and he was going to go full throttle at the bird. Glancing around he looked for the sheath to his cane.
There! It was not too far from him. Making his way slowly to his feet he stumbled the few steps it took to reach it.

Theofilus cursed. This was a really bad idea, but he was going to do it. He transformed into his bipedal from. His magic may have been less effective, but he was at the end of his rope. The trees had stopped moving, and Theofilus was left with the exhaustion. He had a plan. It was a stupid plan but a plan.
He made a motion to the bird he was sitting. It made a comment neither of them could hear, but nodded. It would follow it's master's orders. After all, it didn't have to worry about dying like he did.
It was a sharp dive, Theofilus loosely holding on with one hand. The bird spiraled, diving towards Aderlass as fast as it could. It wouldn't stop until it crashed into the mouse or the ground, both of which were in it's sight.
Theofilus let go taking flight of his own. His left hand hurt like a bitch, his could barely see, his feet was bleeding, and now buildings were catching on fire. No this fight couldn't get any better could it? He spun around trying to see if the bird had hit the ground or Aderlass in the suicide attack.

Bending down the mouse quickly snatched up up the cherry wood sheath of his cane with his sore left hand, cursing the resulting pain that radiated from the movement. A small ring of triumph going through the mouse he deftly re-sheathed the sword. Now he would teach that bird a lesson.
Turning his full attention back to the bird and its rider he was a little confused on what was transpiring. However, once the creature turned to face him it was made abundantly clear - well sort of.
Narrowing his eyes he realized that there would only be one chance with this one. Keeping the cane in his right hand he slammed it on the ground. Focusing on the bird and its rider he called forth the destruction.
As the column of fire spewed up a little before the mouse. Surely this had to catch the creature in some way.
A dragon headed cane: Soon enough, I'm sure, he will find out that he can use the cane (by slamming it down on the floor and concentrating) to summon a column of fire, this enormous bout of flame stretches ten feet high and four feet thick. Once summoned it can be moved marginally, but not far from where it was called to, your SD can move in and out of the flame, but very few other SD will ever be able to without being severely burned by the flame.
The column will last for about fifteen minutes, and drain the owner horribly, causing him to feel desperately weak afterwards...but not during. He can summon the flame once per month only...but it will be wonderfully effective.

The bird went up in flames with a horrible screech. It didn't stand a chance against the giant column of fire that rose up from the mouse's cane. Theofilus had managed to get off in time, and he watched in silence the fireworks display.
Well shit.
At least the bird had served a good purpose. The only problem was the sparrow was completely unable to approach the mouse. His nose twitched, and he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his. He glanced down and screamed in horror as he watched his feathers burst into flames. Apparently he had gotten too close to the fire that had started to take out several houses.
He frantically flapped to the closed surface that wasn't covered in spikes. It was far enough from the fire that he could be safe to drop and roll so the fire would go out. All of the pain flooded through Theofilus' body.
He wrapped his talons around his left wrist, digging them into his flesh. It was a pain that felt much better than his ass being on fire.

And lovely fireworks they were too.
For a moment the mouse held his breath in hopeful wonder that maybe, just maybe, that bloody sparrow had gone up in flames as well.
Soon however, this was show to him to be very false.
At the sudden pain that copied the sparrow's clumsiness, the mouse let out a squeak. The mouse had never really had the experience of knowing what it was like to be burned and as he the pain spread out over his body he was more than grateful.
"You self-mutilating, no good son of a . . . " The mouse shouted in frustration.
Keeping a watchful eye on his surroundings - a sneak attack from the bloody sparrow would not be a desired thing - he tried to figure out what to do next. Making his way nearer to the wall of flame that he called he prepared himself.
Perhaps he could somehow convince the bird to come nearer? If not he would be able to use the fire as a refuge for another good amount of time.

Fallen on deaf ears, so to speak. The sparrow looked over at the giant wall of flame, which was nothing more than orange fuzz to him. He couldn't see the mouse even if he squinted. Fine. He would be a sadistic bastard then.
The sparrow sat up his whole body protesting. He winced a bit, his tail twitching with the pain of the birds. He took a few steady and careful breaths before he dug his talons further into his wrist. Tears were coming down his eyes as he ripped his talons from his and slammed on his left hand.
Pop.
He screamed. There wasn't much else he could do. He smirked as he started crying from the pain. At least the mouse was feeling it too.
He really needed to come up with an idea. He had nothing left. He could summon his birds twice a week... but he had never summoned them twice in one day. And what if they still had the problem with one under Aderlass's influence?
Why hadn't he thought of it before? He turned the power on full blast. It took him a moment, it was a bit of a struggle under all the pain.
King's Ability: He exudes a calming aura, it's nearly impossible for anyone to be angry, deeply sad, hurt, offended, or exuberant around him. He can control its degree of intensity so that it won't dampen someone's day if they're delighted, or if he wants to stay out of an argument. He is also amazingly well reasoned, once he has used the calming aura, he has about three hours before it wears off. If within that time, he can reason the person away from their previous feelings, then when the aura wears off, they will not instantly return to their former feelings. If he cannot convince them, then three hours after the aura wears off, they return instantly back to the intense emotion they were experiencing before. Can be used once per day.

It was as he was walking through the fire to reach the other side that he head the sudden, utter scream of pain a flash of a moment before the pain struck him as well. Letting out an echo of a scream the mouse fell to his knees.
The pain was unbearable. That @$ing bird!
Any tears that leaked from his eyes were quickly evaporated from the heat. Whimpering softly the mouse clutched his left arm against his chest.
It was while he was working to overcome this new bout of pain that the mouse felt a sudden and swift change in his mood. It was as if all the rage, the pain, the denial, the hatred, suddenly bleed away from him.
He could almost say that he felt . . . calm.
Feeling completely puzzled, though quite calmly about it, the mouse tried to shake it off by shaking his head. What had that sparrow done to him now?
