He should have looked into her future sooner. He should have been able to see this coming. Theofilus was usually more careful but this time he had slipped up. He had done all the wrong things and now what was he left with. Elyse was dead. He swallowed hard and leaned against the wall. Aderlass was not going to take this well. Theofilus shook his head. Who was he kidding, Aderlass was going to kill him! The mouse knew about his ability to see into the future and.... It was his fault for not looking sooner. He took a deep breath. Elyse was dead. There was nothing he could do to change this fact. It was just a matter of dealing with Aderlass.... and Eilwyn.... and everyone else. "I am such an idiot," he growled to himself before pushing his glasses up on his nose. "What the hell am I going to do?"

He had gotten the message and as soon as he could had taken off for his daughter's apartment in the Capital. Something had to be wrong. The thought resounded in his head over and over, to the point of obsession in the mouse's mind. His precious daughter was not due for another two months in the least. No, it was simply that she wanted to see him. Yes that was it. By calling for him like this she was making sure that he would be able to get away. That had to be it. Or it was simply false labor. Her mother had suffered it towards the end of her carriage. All he knew was that he had to get there as quick as possible. Finally arriving he rushed up the stairs. A slamming of the door against the wall announced his entrance. Fumbling his way through the apartment he made it to the location of all the commotion. Stopping in the doorway he could only stare, eyes not comprehending the sight before him.

Theofilus closed his eyes as he listened to the other man rush up the stairs. No, this wasn't really happening. This must have been a dream. He should have been able to catch it in time. The sparrow dug his nails into his palms, the gloves prevented anything from really happening.
What was he supposed to say? What was he supposed to do? Wasn't the doctor supposed to be coming back soon?
"I'm so sorry," Theofilus said quietly from his corner of the room. He couldn't raise his voice much louder out of respect and fear. Everyone knew what Aderlass was capable of, and even if Theofilus was a Queen, someone who could create fire from nothing was always dangerous. Considering the circumstances he was probably twice as dangerous.
And it was Theofilus' fault. It was all his fault. There was no getting around that.

The image was slowly sinking in, yet at the same time his mind was blanking it out. It could not be. No, his mind simply refused to accept it as a fact.
There was no way . . .
The hushed words snapped the mouse out of his daze, giving him somewhere to focus his attention on. "You." The words were as near a growl as a mouse could possibly make them.
That &@$%ing sparrow. All of this was his @&%$ fault. Him and that @&%$ son of his. If the two of them had never . . . Why did everyone precious have to leave him?
The image of his sister, so young, so pale, flashed before his eyes. Stricken by outrage and unable to think clearly or thoroughly through things the mouse let his anger consume him.
&@$%ing consequences be @&%$ed. An eye for a &@$%ing eye. He rushed toward the man, cane raised above his head much like one would prepare for a swing with a club.

Oh no. This wasn't exactly what he wanted. He could understand anger, but not violence. In self defense he lifted up his cane to block Ader's.
Of course, the sparrow's cane wasn't meant for anything like this. Sure he had shoved it down someone's throat to win a fight but Ader's cane was something else entirely.
The Queen of Diamonds found himself slammed against the wall, unable to dodge the attack properly. Ader's cane ended up hitting him in the shoulder hard. The sparrow hissed as best as a bird could, "Son of a bitch."
He would try to talk his way out of this before reacting with anything violent in turn. He didn't believe that all problems could be solved with violence. "Listen to me! This couldn't be prevented! It was an accident. You have grandchildren to think about now!"
Just in case he made sure to cast a spell. Hopefully that would prevent Ader from doing anything too serious.
Powerful Ability: He is able to link his own body's nerves to an opponents once per day. He can cause them to feel every bit of pain that he is feeling, whether they caused it or not. It will last for up to five hours and the weakness he feels due to the pain will be felt as well. (So if he goes into a fight tired and with a headache...so does his opponent...even if they slept and ate well.) Pain will also be felt in "phantom limbs" (ie: If his wings are injured and the opponent has none, they will still feel the pain as though they had those limbs, a horribly confusing event that will cause them momentary pause as they look for the extra limbs and source of pain).

The mouse felt a wave of pleasure come over him as his cane knocked the sparrow on the shoulder and the attack threw the lighter man into the wall. Curling up his lip he became more enraged at the sparrows next words. "An accident? No, there I think you are wrong. You could have prevented this, and you &@$%ing well know it. This all falls on you and that boy of yours."
He continued to throw his weight at the man, pinning him there. Suddenly out of seemingly no where there was pain in his shoulder. The same one that he had just hit the fellow Queen with.
"Why you-!" He snapped out, without much of a warning he suddenly swung his can down and outward, breaking the tension between the two. As velocity continued the action the mouse reached out with his hand, grasping the sparrows glasses and yanking them as he skipped back from the man.

"Don't blame Eilwyn for any of this!" Theofilus shrieked adding an extra push to Aderlass's release. Ader managed to scratch his face as he snatched the glasses off of Theofilus' nose. The golden chain snapped with a small sound of protest. A few pieces of it fell to the floor. The world was now fuzzy, and Theofilus cursed his bad eyesight in his remaining eye. At least he had kept the "better one."
Great amount of good that did.
He glared at the man standing in front of him, he clutched his cane keeping it ready if he had to defend himself.
"Don't you dare touch my son," Theofilus growled his voice was lowered to a whisper. "He's a sweet and broken boy who doesn't deserve your wrath. But should I be speaking logic to someone who attacks an old man?"
He had to squint to see Aderlass properly. It was annoying. He raised his voice again. "If you want to fight about this, we take it outside and respect your daughter. But I imagine she wouldn't want you tearing everything she worked so hard for apart."

When the Queen pushed against him as he retreated back a few steps he almost toppled but quickly caught himself with an extra half step. He should be grateful for the push though, it had helped to free the chain with quite a satisfying pop.
Standing there he raised himself to his full height - though small and pretty unimpressive as it may have been - and narrowed his eyes at the sparrow. Oh he was not going to touch the boy. He did not need physical contact to cause the pretty eagle to fry like a turkey. Oh no. Not that he was planning for the sparrow to be around to see it.
For pure spite the mouse kept his attention on the sparrow as he slowly drew off the gloves that covered his hands. After the gloves were removed he raised focused just enough attention on his right hand to have the temperature raised, the mental frame of Theo's glasses started to melt.
"After you." He motioned with the melted possession toward the door.
Jack's Ability: He can now control the heat of his paws, toning the level of warmth to his liking...they can also now burn hotter than ever...as can the rest of his body. If he so desires, he can turn up the temperature to the point where it would melt/incinerate nearby objects or appendages without actually feeling the heat himself. This means that it is now possible for him to touch other SD with his bare paws...for the first time in his life.

"You!" Theofilus said as he watched his glasses slowly melt in the a puddle of nothing. Now this made things more complicated. So much for the idea of a fair fight. She snorted. What did he expect from an angry father. He should have known better.
"Just don't try anything underhanded. You already have the upper hand with good eyesight and a young age." Theofilus said as he quickly moved towards the door.
It seemed like forever to get out of the house. The decent to the street was taken one step at a time. Theofilus knew what was coming. He knew full well that Aderlass wouldn't listen to any sort of reason. And he knew what the mouse would do to his son if he let things stand like they were.
Theofilus paused when he reached the last step. He turned around, and took several steps back so he could look at Aderlass. "Aderlass. I need to ask you one question before we begin. Do you intend to harm my son for this even after I take all the blame?"

The mouse only sneered at the man at his comment, not offering any other answer. Of course he would not try anything unhanded toward the male as he had his back to him. Only cowards took shots like that, and a cowered the mouse most certainly was not!
Plus, he already had the bird at a disadvantage, what with his one lame eye.
When they finally reached street - a journey that was most definitely longer going down than it had been going up - he faced the man. Tilting his head to the side he considered that question for a moment. Would he truly harm the eagle? Truthfully, probably not . . . at least nothing lasting or permanent.
"Your son had more of a play in this than you did, so it would be wrong of me if I did not give the boy some result from his actions. Though considering just how much a weakling he is like his father, I doubt he would last all that long."
