Everything felt positively radiant this evening and Anya was in delightful spirits. Work with father was going well and they'd just gotten a wonderful new litter in. Business was booming, so to speak, and so while father's assistant dropped off some of the less-than-champ pups in a local bander store, Anya went out to get herself from coffee and something sweet. If her day went as planned, Anya intended to get her lunch to go and to spend the afternoon in the park with her lunch. After all, what better way to celebrate a fine day than to picnic in the park? With a bit more knowledge under her belt as to where the best places near the park were, Anya was confident as she strolled through the streets in search of her perfect cafe. The quetzal was singing to herself, voice light and sweet as she meandered along.

A day off. A wonderful sunny day off where he could do whatever he wanted. Freedom from his obligations and work. It was also an excuse for him to go to the park without anyone tagging along. Well no, he was stuck with a bander that his brother had forced upon him. The sparrow sighed as the creature tugged on it's leash, trying to move faster than he could. She had a wonderful temperament like Ez had promised, but she was a little more bouncy that what Zane was used to. Normally he would just wait for Fern to try and tear out his feathers. "Down," Zane directed as the bander tried to wiggle forward. She stopped briefly, looking up at sparrow with a curious look before turning back to what she was doing. He made a frustrated sound as he let her pull him forward. That was until she went to jump on a rather beautiful Highlander woman. "Nila, NO," he hissed as he hurried forward to scoop the squirming bander up. She wiggled happily for a few more moments before giving up the struggle and letting her "owner" win. "I'm so sorry about that," Zane said, blushing under his feathers. Thankfully it was mostly colored. "I hope she didn't jump on your coat or anything. I just got her and I'm horrible with training pets."

Anya was still humming to herself when she caught sight of the intriguing Kahmden and his eager little bander. The little blue thing was bounding eagerly at the edge of her leash, dragging the male along all the way. Anya could have giggled at the sight. Years and years of experience with Banders had long taught her how to deal with the little hellions, and her Jack ability really was quite useful.
And then the little blue thing lurched forward and attempted to 'greet' her by jumping on her. The Quetzal merely arched a brow, ready to use her Jack's ability before the man swept in and gathered up his little beast.
Anya laughed then as he blushed and apologized and she waved off the indiscretion with a smile. "Oh dear, no problem. My coat has seen dirtier paws and banders of far worse temperaments." The Highlander gave the intriguing male a once over before smiling to herself and leaning in, stroking the bander gently so as not to catch anyone beneath her vicious talons.

Zane gave a sigh of relief that the young woman wasn't angry with him. A smile crept onto his beak as he glanced at the beautiful Highlander in front of him. What a wonderful chance meeting, and apparently she was fond of banders?
Nila made a happy wuffling sound as the woman scratched her head. Her owner wasn't good at this sort of thing, he didn't know where to properly scratch. She wiggled happily as she tried to lick the woman's talons.
The sparrow managed to regain his senses. "Ah, I have to make it up to you though. It's not every day I meet someone so beautiful and forgiving as you, so would you like to have a bit of lunch with me? I'm sure Nila would appreciate it too, she hasn't been this cheerful for a while."
Please let that work. It would be great to have a meal with a pretty Highlander like this...

Trying her hardest not to outwardly stare, Anya made sure the brunt of her focus appeared to be on Nila (is that what he'd called her?) and reserved herself to looking him over from the corner of her eye. He was a handsome one and his wings were positively intriguing... Not to mention that he had a lovely little Bander and, honestly, Anya was a sucker for Bander owners.
And oh, an invitation to lunch. Perfect.
The quetzal straightened gracefully and flashed a subtle but cheerful smile at the other. "Well, if you're looking for lovely apologies, I think I'd enjoy a bit of lunch with a handsome stranger." How could she say no to such a complimentary offer anyway? Delicately she offered a taloned hand to the Kahmden. "I am Anya, by the way. Is there anything you'd like me to call you by, Nila's Trainer?" She laughed softly, putting her diamond charm to good use.

Zane couldn't help but smile at the woman. She had quite a sense of humor, was drop dead gorgeous, and clearly utterly amazing Highlander. And he couldn't help but blush when she brought up the subject of names. He had been in such a hurry to scold Nila that he had forgotten to properly introduce himself.
"You can call me Zane. It's shorter and easier to answer to, I think." He scratched bander behind the ears when she insisted on jumping up at him. If it wasn't for her than he would not have met this lovely woman. Maybe it was a good thing having such a cheerful little bander?
Even if she had destroyed his curtains in her joy. One day he would figure out how to train a bander properly.
"Ah, while we're on our way to get ourselves a meal, we might as well get to know each other. You mentioned something about banders earlier.... are you a professional trainer or do you just do it as a hobby?" Maybe she could help him with his bander?

Zane! What a handsome name! Anya definitely preferred it to 'Nila's Trainer'. The woman laughed delicately, her tone playful and affectionate. "That is a much nicer name, I must admit." The quetzal eyed master and bander for a moment, enjoying the sight. Not all banders were so loving! "Its a very handsome name, Zane, and it's my great pleasure to learn it."
As they walked, Anya found herself paying extra attention to her movements. She'd make sure her hips swayed just so or that her feathers laid neatly or that her tail curled in the most appropriately fetching way... She wanted to be noticed by Zane or, if she had already obtained that, to keep that notice firm every step of their time together.
"Oh~" she giggled happily at the topic of banders, "I'm not exactly a trainer, it's just part of what I -- and my family -- do. We're Breeders. My father's famed for what he does and, one day, I intend to take over his stock." Anya's eyes lit up when she spoke of this, it was her dream... Or that's what she kept telling herself.
Deep down inside, however, she was a selfish creature and, as a selfish creature, she enjoyed comforts such as long outings with handsome strangers even though such things would serve her no betterment in her career. Her father would've been ashamed had he known.

Damn. She was just so beautiful. What was it about Highlanders that demanded so much attention? Was it simply their reputation and the way they carried themselves? Or was it something else entirely? He didn't particularly want to figure out the mystery as he blushed slightly under his feathers. At least the blue would be able to cover it up.
Bander breeder? That was impressive. To have the dedication to breed angry little monsters day in and day out must have been quite difficult. Clearly she wasn't only beautiful she had the patience of a saint.
"You're quite the amazing woman, Miss Anya. From what I hear most Banders are rather ill tempered. We used to have one that was very fond of biting ankles... and my brother has a rather nasty one who tried to take out my tail feathers. I can't imagine what skills you possess to tame and have the ability to walk away unscathed and still gorgeous." He said with a cordial smile.

Ohh, compliments. Anya so loved compliments and she loved them even more when they were given in such wonderfully charming ways.
"Why thank you, Zane. You're far too kind with your words..." The Highlander brushed her long nails through her short crest of feathers and offered him the faintest hint of a pleased blush in reward for his charming words. "My father does most of the hard work, but I've been raised around them so I've got a knack for handling them. That and I've been told I've got a gift for breaking the little monsters into manageable show beasts."
Anya was, obviously, quite a proud creature. She felt no shame in bragging about her skills, or in basking in Zane's praise and... admiration.
Careful of her claws, Anya leaned in against Zane as they were walking and lightly scratched Nila's head. "You're lucky to have such a sweet little one," it wasn't show quality or anything of the sort... but it was good for a pet which was probably more the goal for this one.

He grinned. She really was one heck of a Highlander. She clearly had the pride and the looks to go with it. Something that made her all the more attractive.
Nila made a happy gurgle when she was scratched. Her tail wiggled happily.
"My brother has a rather sweet bander. And she managed to get out of his apartment and get pregnant. Had two adorable little babies and I got Nila thrust upon me. My wonderful brother thought I was lonely," He shook his head. As sweet as Ez was he did like to stick his beak where it didn't belong. But without this bander he wouldn't have met this lovely Lady. "Of course I'm a little more thankful now. Without her I wouldn't have met someone like you."
Hopefully that would be classified as a smooth move. He gave her an award winning smile just in case.
