" Out of my way! Stand aside, please!" The large crowd that always occupied the streets of the Capital at midday parted, many pedestrians letting out gasps or affronted exclaimations as a bipedal Duck, looking furious and determined, pelted down the street at the fasted speed he could manage without using an ability. His normally ubiqoutous top hat was absent, his grey mane bristled and uncombed, his orange eyes blazing with fury and his cane held menacingly up in the air, as if he were about to whack anyone who failed to move out of his way quickly enough. His feathers were all bristled and his neat outfit was somewhat askew. In short, the Duck was a rather terrifying sight, and it was no surprise that most complied with his frantic requests. " I can't BELIEVE--please lad STAND ASIDE--that he'd do this to me! Of all the stupid, inconsiderate, cheaters--" the Duck was muttering angrily to himself as he stormed quickly to whatever destination he seemed to need to reach in a hurry. " And WHERE he got the idea that it was all right to switch the times on me..." Behind the Duck, moving at a more graceful, but still rapid, pace, a white Persian Feline loped, looking apologetically at those who her boss almost mowed down in his hurry. Though her eyes sure had a strange light in the back of them... She had a black top hat held in one paw, which was what made her running a little awkward. " I have no idea, Sir, none at all--quite sorry, he's not usually like this--but we really aren't going to make it quite in time even with you causing this huge disturbance--ooh, quite sorry, there's a clinic where you can get that looked at just up the street." Of course, the clinic was generally closed on Tuesdays...should she have mentioned that? Heh.

Menefer was moving through the crowd at a easy gate, weaving and bobbing through it and always saying that he was sorry for bumping into someone or just being in the way of others. He wasn't really in a big hurry, after all it wasn't as if he had to be at work for another hour or so. That was when he started to hear a clamor of something happening in front of him, so as curious as a cat he decided to approach and see what was up. He did have about four lives left so he was good, he always made a joke about such things, but it wasn't really healthy now was it? Menefer would be seen carrying a large pack on his back full of cooking stuffs and foods. He considered himself a traveling cook, someone to feed others no matter the time or place. Well the place did matter if it was in the middle of the street or some place where it was not permitted to have a fire. Once he saw the duck and very attractive female. He grew out in a wide grin and smiled as he approached. "I do say zat ze clinic is closed today." he said in a different accent than normal before giving a slight bow before the two. He didn't know the ducks rank so he did the next best thing and that was the bow.

It happened quickly...one moment the crowds were clearing for the Duck, allowing him to run on his way, shouting furiously all the while...and the next, there was suddenly a Feline with a large pack -bowing- right in front of him. With a loud, undignified squawk, the Duck leapt into the air, wings flapping desperately to try and avoid tripping over the foolish fellow, and he just barely managed to avoid it...with the result that he landed hard on the other side, sending his cane skittering away on the cobblestones. Clenching his beak angrily, the Duck began loudly cursing the Feline and all his lineage in his native Highlands tongue, causing several people to stop and stare.
But at the blazing look in the Duck's eyes they all quickly hurried about their business. "What was that? What -was- that? Are you daft?" The Duck sputtered as he finally regained his feet (and his cane) though his dignity was sadly left behind. His face was red from anger beneath his feathers, and he stepped purposefully toward the newcomer.
The Tulgey Feline, for her part, was able to stop gracefully and neatly right in front of the other Feline, and delicately raised an eyebrow. "Oh, is it? My mistake," she said, shrugging. Her pink eyes turned to regard her employer's misfortune. "Oh my goodness," she exclaimed, one paw coming up to cover her mouth, presumably because the shock was just too much! (In reality it was to hide the small laugh...but it was quiet enough Menefer most likely would not catch it, or think it was merely a cough).
She quickly interposed herself between the Duck and the Feline. "Now, Mr. McDuck, there's no need to get in a tizzy about this," she scolded, though her pink eyes held an odd tone to them. "He didn't mean anything by it..." She put a paw placatingly on McDuck's arm, and the Duck stopped with a scowl, crossing his arms and looking venomously at Menefer.
The Feline turned back to him, shaking her head in such a way that made her fluffy ears frame her face adorably. "I'm afraid you'd better apologize, Sir. There's really no stopping him when he's in one of these dreadful moods." Her pink eyes sparkled. "My name is Mrs. White, and this is my employer, Graeme McDuck, the head of McDuck Enterprises. Yes, -the- McDuck Enterprises." Evidently she expected him to have heard of it. Many in the Capital and most in the Highlands had.

Menefer didn't really knew what happened next, all he could kinda remember was the simple fact that the duck had exclaimed and then flew and fell on his side. He was so spooked that he flinched back and moved away slightly his tail between his legs. His paws over his eyes as he started to hear the duck starting to scream at him for no apparent reason, and before he could say something to say that he was sorry did the other get up and start talking.
He would turn to her and stand up a bit as he looked at both the duck and the feline. "I'm sorry about startling you Mr. McDuck, but I'm also not acquainted with McDuck Enterprises. . ." he said trailing off. He was bitterly honest about what he said, but he was also a very weird torque. After all... who ever heard of a Torque smiling and laughing?

Graeme frowned, still glaring at the Card...though he nodded stiffly as he apologized, and, though it took a great amount of effort, he finally, rigidly, lowered his hands until they were unassumingly at his sides. "It's all right, Laddie, but next time you'd better remember not to get in the way when someone is in a hurry!" Graeme scolded, a frown on his bill. His accent came through even stronger than normal when he was upset, like now. Some Cards even found some of his words a little hard to understand at times.
Mrs. White blinked at the Card in amusement. Oh, poor dear, he seemed to be a bit overwhelmed! This could be fun. She looked sympathetic as she handed McDuck his hat. "Oh, don't worry about it, dear, not everyone has heard of it..." She eyed the pack and his scruffy appearance a bit critically, though she would pretend it was just an idle look. No wonder he hadn't heard of it...he probably didn't even have enough gold to buy a shady apartment. "Sorry that we may have accidentally startled you! Please, what is your name?"
Graeme took his top hat and placed it back on his head, running a finger through his hair and closing his eyes with several deep breaths in an obvious attempt to calm down. He'd had enough loss of dignity today without making a scene. Well...more of a scene. But he did turn to look sharply at his maid. "Mrs. White, that does not matter. We have no time to stay and chat."

Wow these two knew how to make someone really feel bad and mayhap even want to go around the corner to find a nice shaded spot where he could lay down and feel bad about himself. Now if he were a normal Torque then he might have done that, but these two only kept making him more curious. So he would ask and probably even receive what he was wanting to know or probably end up digging himself into a deeper hole.
Menefer nodded to the man, "I am very much sorry though Mr. McDuck." he said before turning his attention back to the woman that happened to look at his back pack for some reason. It would seem that she probably wanted to know what he was doing. Menefer wasn't the sharpest cutlery, but he sure wasn't the dullest.
"Well Mr. McDuck and Mrs. White, if you wish and accept my apologies, then I would invite you to have lunch on my indisgressions that I may have caused either of you, for I am Menefer de Cook, traveling cooking extraordinaire!" he said with a big finish and a deep bow. He would look back up at the two and then come back with something witty, "You -have- heard of ze, no? Anyone whose anyone in the realms have heard of me." he said with another smile that seemed a bit too big on his face. For now he was happy once again his tail hiked up and his eyes a shining.

Mrs. White shot her employer a droll look. "By the time we get back there, Sir, I'm afraid the meeting would already be over," she said with a shrug. This was turning out to be far more interesting than some stupid meeting, anyway, even if McDuck's worst business rival was going to be making a scene there. It was one of the reasons she'd made sure to reschedule behind his back and 'forget' to tell him.
Graeme frowned yet more deeply as the Card proceeded to not only introduce himself, but invite them to lunch! Honestly, did the lad not speak a word of Common? He'd just said he was too busy! Though his expression turned thoughtful, and the frown on his bill deepened. Mrs. White was, quite unfortunately...right. They'd already wasted so much time here...and he could always meet with the -important- parties at the meeting at a later time...so while it still didn't sit well with him, a free lunch might go a long way toward sweetening his mood. Emphasis on the 'free'. Anything that saved him money was a good thing, in his book. "I'm afraid I've never heard of you," he said, the admission not bothering him much. He could tell hyperbole when he heard it, after all, and he -knew- he knew anyone that was anyone in the Highlands and the Capital, at least. Why, he even knew the Queen of Hearts. How many could say that? He had connections most Cards could only dream of. Suits, he -was- a connection most Cards could only dream of! "Lunch sounds fine, provided you have somewhere we can sit and eat it," Graeme said shortly. 'Traveling cook' sounded a little...odd. But at least he was trying to make something of himself.
Mrs. White had to stifle an unladylike snort at Menefer's ridiculous claims. Had he ever been to Tulgey Woods, she had to wonder? Most likely not. He looked too...untraumatized. She managed to merely turn her would-be laugh into a cough instead. "As my employer has stated, we would be glad to share a meal with you, Menefer," she said sweetly, with a smile.

Menefer gave a quick nod and spoke in nice and even words, ignoring the simple fact that he hadn't heard of him either. It wasn't that odd, you couldn't possibly know everyone in the realms. So he payed it no mind at all, and didn't even bother with the looks that the man had given him.
"Well being as I have been here for a bit, that would mean that I have to be at the place where I catering. So if you wish we can lunch there." he said with a smile and started to walk slowly hoping that the duck and the feline would follow. "Its at a renowned hotel where named Harrisons." he stated, knowing full well that that place was one of the most popular places that anyone would want to be caught in, even being for something very bad, it still looked good.
He would start to walk in the direction, his bag jingling and banging as he walked.

Graeme nodded, pleased to hear that there was indeed a place they could go. Though...he wasn't sure if he'd ever heard of this hotel. Which really wasn't a surprise, as the only hotels he'd ever really been to were for seminars or meetings with other people, as he had a house he owned her whenever he needed to stay over night in the city. Though the name sounded somewhat familiar...so perhaps he'd met a client there before? He couldn't say. Whether he remembered it or not would depend on hos classy this 'Harrisons' was.
"Very well. Lead on, Menefer," he said, gesturing with a hand and then following along at the brisk pace. He raised an eyebrow at the odd noises coming from the pack, but then, if all his pots and pans were in there, he supposed it made sense.
Mrs. White raised an eyebrow, but said nothing as she moved to follow the other Feline, fluffy tail held high and twitching idly in the air. She seemed relaxed enough, but her pink eyes darted left and right, closely watching the crowds around her. It paid to be alert in a place like this.

Menefer was just too aloof right now to worry about those around him, not to mention the fact that he may have even forgotten that people where following him as he dodged feet and moved around people, it just took him a second to realize this and wait up. He was just in such a good mood that he couldn't wait to get back to the hotel and start serving those that would be waiting on him there.
It always made Menefer feel really good when he fed people, he had always thought that it was his given right and his destiny to do so. Everyone had to eat, so why not make it the best food that they could ever have tasted? Well he wasn't the best, but he determined that he was at least very good.
It was about a twenty minute walk before they would stop before a five story building that had a very cheery white color about it and a aloof sign that screamed money. The neighborhood alone said 'keep out the poor', but Menefer ignored the gazes and continued to the front door where he held the door open for Mr. McDuck and Mrs. White to enter before he stepped inside.
He would smile widely as he walked up to the finely dressed clerk that was behind a solid white counter that held a brilliantly embossed H on the front of it.
"Good day, and how may I help you?" the human asked. It showed that he may have a bit of Highland in him.
"I am Menefer ze Cook here to serve at the Banquet tonight." he said with his smile wide and his tail wagging complacently. "We also have with us tonight a Mr. McDuck of McDuck Enterprises, and his assistant Mrs. White to join us for the banquet as well." he would continue as he pointed out the two with his fore paw.
"Oh by the Hearts! Mr. McDuck here?" he said excaliming a bit, "I must inform the Manager to set him up with our best room." with that he would give them free reign to do as they pleased and he would quickly leave to enter the managers room.
